My area of expertise is Search Engine Optimisation, which I have been performing since 2005.

Who is Jonathan Walker?

I’m a 26 year old who lives in a largely unheard of area in South Wales (UK!) who lives with his girlfriend Lizz and has two cats named Deuce and Domino.

I like to think that I can play the guitar, I’m currently playing in a Status Quo tribute band and am also working on my (long in development) original material. I currently play a Fender Custom Telecaster (as showcased by members of Franz Ferdinand and U2!), with an Orange Tiny Terror to make the noise!

I am a huge football fan, with Cardiff City being the team that I support. I no longer play eleven a side football, but still enjoy a game of 5-aside, be it in a league or just a social game with friends.

I also enjoy playing computer games and rate the Super Nintendo as the best console ever, with Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World & Street Fighter 2 being the best two releases ever!

What’s My Online Background?

After becoming interested in and subsequently dabbling with website design in 1998, I began to build websites for personal pleasure, including one dedicated to the hit Nintendo 64 video game WWF: No Mercy and a website dedicated to a band that I have an unhealthy obsession with The Misfits.

I headed off to University with aspirations of becoming a top web designer, only to be enrolled on a course which was quickly becoming redundant due its outdated material. I took it upon myself whilst in the University of Glamorgan and after I’d graduated to enhance my skills, whilst building websites to amass the holy grail for graduates – an active, online portfolio, with the websites created and maintained for New Jersey Band Mister Monster, Wales’ own pop duo ElectroVamp (then known as Kute), being my favourite projects.

Despite building a fairly healthy looking portfolio, I was struggling to really find my feet as a designer, and by chance in 2005 I became more interested in Search Engine Optimisation and Website Marketing.

Although the industry is still in its infancy, I have around 5 years experience of gaining top rankings for Generic, Nationwide Terms which users are searching for!

Becoming a skilled SEO took time, 2005 and 2006 saw me learn the fundamentals of the then best practices in on page SEO (many of which still hold up pretty well today) and link building, I was able to gain high, if not #1 positions for a variety of “experimental” websites, targeting terms of varied competition.

2007 saw me continue in this way, before getting a chance to perform SEO in the commercial market, securing many top rankings in competitive areas, using a variety of on page optimisation and link building techniques.

2008 and early 2009 saw me work on a large variety of websites in different sectors as I finally began to tout my services to the broader public, now with this huge amount of experience and superb results behind me – I feel its time to really make myself as a name in the industry and help more businesses achieve their online goals.
